MINUTES OF THE SHORT BUSINESS MEETING HELD AT CHEADLE ON 24/04/04

This was the first meeting in the new format agreed at the meeting at Gawsworth. The weather being fine the meeting took place in the churchyard.

Christine Broadley thanked the ringers of Cheadle for the use of the bells and the provision of cups of tea and biscuits.

The following ringers were elected members of the Guild: Carol Slinger, Ian Slinger, Lynn Pickford, Christopher Pickford, Ian Swindells, all from Hyde; Elizabeth Bennett and Rebecca Glen from Norbury. Proposed by Stephen Hughes and seconded by Brian Wigley.

Peter Dyson gave a report of the Young Ringers’ Day at Sutton and Macclesfield Bowling Alley. The young ringers all enjoyed the event and got some benefit from it. They would certainly like a similar day in the future, this time at an eight bell tower.

A discussion on the new child protection proposals followed. The advice from the Guild was to politely refuse to complete the new CRB forms until guidelines from the Central Council had been received.

Ringing continued in the evening at Bredbury.
