CHESTER DIOCESAN GUILD

EAST BRANCH QUARTER PEAL FESTIVAL 2008

Well, what a difference a year makes.  After grumbling about the state of enthusiasm in the largest Branch in the Chester Diocesan Guild, the 2008 Quarter Peal Festival has proved to be a positive breath of fresh air. Improvements all round over the two previous years. 18 successful quarters out of 23 attempted, involving 10 Branch towers. There was one quarter rung in a neighbouring Association tower. This was Yorkshire SM at Ashton St Peter, which until 1969 was in the old Bowdon, Stockport & Mottram Branch of the Chester Guild.  Good to see you St Peter’s, if you would like to step back over the border, you’ll be more than welcome.

There was an impressive 32 firsts in something or other which shows that progress is being made.

Our thanks go to the hardy perennials who are always around to arrange quarters, also to those ringers from out of the Branch who helped to make this year’s Festival a success. Commiserations to those whose attempts ended in disappointment, but don’t leave such attempts just for the annual festival, there’s plenty of experienced ringers who will help you advance at any time of the year.
